Artist Impressions of separated cycle track infrastructure on the
sunshine coast

LD DESIGN STUDIO PRODUCED NINE ARTIST IMPRESSIONS TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FOR THE SUNSHINE COAST COUNCIL’S ACTIVE TRANSPORT CORRIDORS.

In 2024–2025, the Design and Placemaking Branch of Sunshine Coast Council engaged LD Design Studio to help communicate plans for new cycle infrastructure to a wide range of stakeholders, from elected councillors to the broader community. The engagement focused on two key projects — the Caloundra to Currimundi (C2C) and the Mooloolaba to University (M2U) Active Transport Corridors — designed to deliver safer, more comfortable routes that encourage more people to walk and ride.

Council had prepared engineering concept plans and required visualisations to make these proposals clear and accessible. LD Design Studio created artist impressions illustrating features such as wombat crossings near schools, on- and off-road separated cycle tracks, and a new protected roundabout. These visuals were used across digital and print collateral, overlaying current and proposed street views to make complex engineering concepts simple and relatable. The impressions proved highly effective in engaging stakeholders and building support for the projects.
